Avastfor Mac Crash4/20/2021
Any idea on what is wrong This happens every time I run the scan.
Avast Crash Mac OS XI am running a Macbook Pro C2D with 3GB ram Mac OS X 10.5.1 with any applicable updates installed.I am a long time user of avast for windows and even though I am not sure that I really need av on osx it is useful to not send viruses on to other people in windows land. Were ready to fix this ASAP, but, unfortunately, these crashlog informations arent sufficient to reproduce the crash (on our machines). Interesting procedure May I ask what file(s) your found Ive Scanned iTunes.app and the iTunes folder in the Library directory. Interesting procedure Yes, and it yielded interesting result too: - after unzipping the zipped file that you have sent to me. The cause was an internal interference between former Win32 and newer MacOS define. This fix is also valid for all people that complained about non-deterministic progress-freezing (without crash) during scan. For those who cant wait for the very next release, heres the fix: - download this zipped file: - quit avast from menu using Quit avast antivirus and Agent - replace com.avast.MacAvast.MAD in your Applicationsavast.appContentsResources with the unzipped file - run avast and verify that the tooltip in left upper corner (over VPS xxxx-x) shows Engine version: 0.0.69 - check whether the bug is gone, and let me know Thanks for your bugreport and support, Eric. The latest version of AVG Antivirus is 17.4. Please update and check if the issue still persists. Having visited the AVG forum numerous times, I can see Im not the only mac user to experience the same issue. Ive tried clearing the browser cache, uninstalled and reinstalled AVG numerous times etc, but the issue is still there. AVG is picking up on 18 files that need attention and I wish I could move them to quarantine, but it crashes before I can do this. With AVG uninstalled, I have tried other market products to scan the mac without issue and curiously they arent finding any files that require attention Im running OSX 10.9.5 on iMac. Any further help or advice would be gratefully received. Thanks. June 19, 2017 Answer Like 0 Follow 1. Unfortunately, there is no expected time for the update to release. Please see the following screen grab for your further investigation. I have emailed you the steps to collect error logs from your computer. I would like to inform you that this is a bug and will be fixed in next program update which will be available soon. Before that I see 5 threats so far and I have no idea what those threats are I did follow the instructions to uninstall and then reinstall to no avail. This is a known bug and was already passed to our developers. There should at least be a way of accessing the previous uncomplete scans to find out what the threats were that it had found before it crahsed the entire system. I see that you are using a very old version of AVG Anti Virus for Mac. The latest version of AVG Antivirus is 17.4. Please update and check if the issue still persists.
